Dog Sitting Terms & Conditions
Clear, simple terms to help keep you and your dog safe and happy.
General Terms
- By booking with Wanderlust & Wags, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to pay all fees by the agreed dates. Services may be refused or ended at any time due to health, safety, welfare, behavioural, or financial concerns.
- Care is only provided for the dogs listed in your booking agreement, and no additional people or dogs may stay at the property during the booking without prior agreement. I do not provide gardening, household cleaning, or other domestic services outside of agreed dog care.
- To ensure the highest standard of care for both dogs and homes, Wanderlust & Wags reserves the right to decline, amend or withdraw from a booking if, during the Meet & Greet or before the booking begins, the property, dogs or circumstances differ significantly from the information originally provided, present an unsafe or unsuitable environment, or involve additional responsibilities that were not disclosed at the time of booking. Where appropriate, revised arrangements or additional charges may be agreed before the booking proceeds.
- As a force-free business, I do not use or walk dogs wearing prong collars or other aversive equipment. Dogs are not walked on retractable leads, and off-lead walks are only offered in secure private fields arranged at the client’s expense. I cannot care for dogs subject to Dangerous Dogs Act proceedings or dogs showing aggression towards people or animals.
- At least one Meet & Greet is required before all new clients’ first bookings.
Booking & Payment
- A booking is confirmed once the required booking paperwork has been accepted and the non-refundable Booking Fee of 25% of the total booking price has been received.
- The Booking Fee forms part of the total booking price. It is not an additional charge and is deducted from the total amount payable for the booking.
- The Booking Fee is non-refundable, subject to any rights that may apply under applicable consumer law.
- The remaining balance must be paid by the agreed due date. Short-notice bookings may require payment in full when the booking is confirmed.
- Payments can be made via BACS.
- Wanderlust & Wags reserves the right to suspend or cancel services where payment has not been received by the agreed due date, in accordance with the Dog Sitting Agreement.
- Travel charges apply for locations more than 5 miles from PR4 1SA at 55p per mile unless otherwise stated.
- Prices may change during the year, but confirmed bookings will remain at the agreed rate.
Please note:
• Prices are quoted in pounds sterling (£).
• Late payment may result in cancellation of the booking.
• Travel bookings remain subject to the supplier’s booking conditions.
• Dog sitting bookings remain subject to the Wanderlust & Wags Service Agreement.
• Bank charges (if applicable) are the client’s responsibility.
Booking Completion
Once a booking has commenced, the agreed booking charges remain payable if the booking is ended early due to a change of plans.
No refund or credit will be given for unused time where a booking is shortened after it has commenced, subject to any rights that may apply under applicable consumer law.
Cancellations & Changes
After your Meet & Greet
The Meet & Greet is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your dog’s routine and care needs, and make sure I’m the right fit for both you and your dog.
Please note:
No contracts or booking paperwork are completed during the Meet & Greet.
If you decide to proceed following the Meet & Greet, I will confirm whether I am able to accept the booking. If I do, I will email you the Booking Pack, including the Dog Sitting Agreement, Terms & Conditions and relevant pricing information. Any required client or dog information will also be collected before the booking is confirmed.
Please review the information carefully and confirm that you agree to the terms before the booking is confirmed.
The 25% Booking Fee is then payable. Your booking is confirmed once the required booking paperwork has been accepted and the Booking Fee has been received.
Future bookings can usually be arranged directly by email or WhatsApp and confirmed by invoice.
By accepting the Dog Sitting Agreement and confirming your booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Cancellations & Changes
All cancellations or booking changes must be made in writing via email or WhatsApp.
The cancellation charge is the total amount payable for the cancelled booking, based on the amount of notice given:
- 14 or more days’ notice: 25% of the total booking price
- 7–13 days’ notice: 50% of the total booking price
- Less than 7 days’ notice: 100% of the total booking price
Any amount already paid, including the Booking Fee, will be credited against the applicable total cancellation charge.
For example, if the total booking price is £100 and the £25 Booking Fee has already been paid:
- Cancellation with 14 or more days’ notice: total cancellation charge £25 — nothing further to pay
- Cancellation with 7–13 days’ notice: total cancellation charge £50 — £25 further payment due
- Cancellation with less than 7 days’ notice: total cancellation charge £100 — £75 further payment due
The Booking Fee is therefore not charged again as part of the cancellation charge.
If a cancelled booking can be re-booked, I will consider whether a partial refund is appropriate, taking into account any time, expenses and other costs incurred in connection with the original booking.
Changes to Bookings
Changes to the dates or duration of a confirmed booking may be treated as a cancellation of the original booking and are subject to availability and the applicable cancellation terms.
No refunds or credits are offered for:
Early returns
Reductions in booking dates within 48 hours of the booking start
Cancellations made on the booking start date
If Wanderlust & Wags needs to cancel a confirmed booking, a full refund of amounts paid for the affected booking will be provided.
Repeated cancellations may result in future services being declined.
Dog Welfare & Health
- Your dog’s welfare is always my priority, and all services are provided in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Clients must ensure dogs are:
- Fully vaccinated where appropriate
- In good health
- Flea and worm treated
- Wearing a collar and ID tag as legally required
Clients must also provide:
- All necessary food, medication, equipment, and supplies for the duration of the booking.
- Clear written medication instructions and signed consent where medication is required.
Wanderlust & Wags reserves the right to seek veterinary treatment if it is believed a dog requires medical attention. All veterinary costs, transport fees, and associated expenses remain the responsibility of the client.
- Clients are responsible for any damage, injury, or costs caused by their dog.
Medication Administration
Medication should be provided in its original packaging wherever possible and accompanied by clear written instructions, including dosage, timing and any special administration requirements.
For longer bookings or where appropriate, a Medication Administration Record may be completed to provide an accurate record of medication given.
If any concerns arise during medication administration, including:
- a missed dose
- a delayed or incorrect dose
- an adverse reaction
- changes in your dog’s behaviour or condition
- any concerns about their wellbeing
I will take appropriate action immediately. Depending on the circumstances this may include:
- contacting you
- contacting your emergency contact
- seeking veterinary advice
- taking your dog to a veterinary practice if necessary
Any decisions made will always be in your dog’s best interests, with their welfare and safety as my highest priority.
Emergency & Veterinary Care
- In an emergency, Wanderlust & Wags will always attempt to contact you first, followed by your emergency contact if necessary. Wanderlust & Wags is authorised to seek veterinary treatment where required and will use your registered vet whenever possible.
- A signed Veterinary Release Form is required before all bookings. All treatment decisions will be made by the attending veterinary professional.
- If urgent action is required and neither you nor your emergency contact can be reached, Wanderlust & Wags may act in your dog’s best interests without prior consent.
Weather & Safety
- Walks and outdoor activities may be shortened, adapted, or cancelled during extreme weather conditions including heat, storms, or icy conditions. Your dog’s safety and welfare will always take priority.
- Where walks are not possible, enrichment and care will continue within the home and garden where appropriate.
Important - What constitutes extreme weather is determined solely by Wanderlust & Wags.
- All decisions will be made with your dog’s safety, welfare, and best interests as the top priority.
Unexpected Circumstances
While every effort will be made to provide services as agreed, Wanderlust & Wags cannot accept responsibility for delays or disruption caused by events outside reasonable control, including:
- severe weather
- road closures
- vehicle breakdown
- illness
- family emergency
- power failure
- other unforeseen events
Where possible, clients will be informed promptly and alternative arrangements discussed.
Liability
While every reasonable care will be taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your dog, Wanderlust & Wags cannot accept responsibility for:
- illness, injury, loss or escape resulting from undisclosed medical conditions or behavioural concerns
- incidents arising from inaccurate, incomplete or misleading information provided by the client
- issues resulting from unsafe or unsuitable home environments
- delays or disruption caused by circumstances beyond my reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures or emergencies
Clients are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information about their dog and home environment before each booking, and for notifying me of any changes that may affect the care I provide.
Wanderlust & Wags reserves the right to decline, suspend or terminate services where continuing the booking would present an unacceptable risk to the safety or welfare of the dog, myself, other people or other animals.
Any decisions made will always place the safety, welfare and best interests of everyone involved at the heart of the decision.
Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for ensuring that all information, access arrangements and supplies provided throughout these Terms & Conditions remain accurate and up to date for every booking.
Overnight & In-Home Care
In-home care is tailored to maintain your dog’s usual routine, comfort, and wellbeing within their own environment.
Clients must provide:
- A clean, safe, and secure home
- Suitable sleeping arrangements
- Adequate heating and ventilation
- Clean bedding where required.
Basic home care such as bringing in post, watering plants, or adjusting lights may be included. Deep cleaning and household chores are not included.
Cameras & Privacy
If you have CCTV, doorbell cameras or other recording devices at your property, please let me know before your booking begins.
Outdoor security cameras are welcome and do not present any issue.
If I am providing overnight or live-in care, any internal cameras must be switched off while I am present in the property. This includes living areas, kitchens, bedrooms and any other internal spaces.
When I am staying in your home it becomes both my workplace and my temporary living space, and I ask that my privacy is respected in the same way that I will always respect yours.
Internal cameras may be used while I am away from the property if required.
If undisclosed internal cameras are found to be recording while I am present, I reserve the right to end the booking immediately. In these circumstances the booking will remain fully chargeable.
Keys, Access & Parking
Keys must be provided no later than 3 days before the booking unless alternative secure access has been arranged.
Clients must provide:
- Working keys or access codes
- Clear access instructions
- Alarm information
- Details of any expected visitors
- If Wanderlust & Wags is unable to gain access due to incorrect information, faulty locks, missing keys, or restricted access, the visit remains fully chargeable.
- Where necessary to protect a dog’s welfare, Wanderlust & Wags reserves the right to arrange emergency access, including locksmith services, at the client’s expense.
- Safe and legal parking must be available. Any parking costs incurred due to missing permits or instructions will be reimbursed by the client.
Client Identification and Verification
For security, safeguarding, and fraud prevention purposes, I may request photographic identification and proof of address from new clients during the initial meet-and-greet. Any identification provided will be used solely to verify the client’s identity and address. Once verification has been completed, any electronic copies or files containing identification documents will be securely and permanently deleted using a file-shredding application. Identification documents will not be retained unless required by law or with the client’s explicit consent.
House Cleanliness
I will always clean up after your dogs and leave your home as I found it wherever reasonably possible. Please provide suitable cleaning products for use during the booking. If your dog has any incontinence issues, or if smoking takes place inside the property, please let me know before confirming your booking, as this may affect my ability to provide my services safely.
Communication
Clients agree to communicate directly via WhatsApp or email. A WhatsApp group may be created for booking updates and care communication where appropriate.
Professional Standards
- Wanderlust & Wags is registered with NARPS (National Association of Pet Sitters & Dog Walkers) and continues to undertake ongoing professional training and CPD to maintain high standards of welfare-led, force-free dog care.
- If I am unable to attend due to illness or emergency, alternative insured cover may be arranged where possible. Clients will always be informed if this becomes necessary.
Support & Continuity of Care
In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend due to illness, injury or another genuine emergency, I will always try to make suitable alternative arrangements where possible.
Any person providing cover on behalf of Wanderlust & Wags will be fully insured, carefully selected and provided with your dog’s routine and care instructions.
If alternative cover is required, you will be informed as soon as reasonably possible.
If suitable cover cannot be arranged, any services that cannot be provided will be refunded.
Data Protection
Client information is collected solely for the safe provision of services.
Information is:
- stored securely
- never sold
- only shared where legally required or necessary for animal welfare
Personal information will only be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to meet legal, insurance, tax and business requirements.
Complaints & Feedback
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service provided, please contact Wanderlust & Wags as soon as possible so that any concerns can be investigated and resolved promptly.
Changes to these Terms & Conditions
Wanderlust & Wags reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time. The latest version will always be available on request and will apply to all future bookings.
