Travel FAQs
Here are some of the questions I’m asked most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please get in touch.
How does booking through you work?
We’ll start with a chat about where you’d like to go, when you’re hoping to travel and anything that’s important to you. Once I’ve got a good idea of what you’re looking for, I’ll research suitable options and send you a quotation showing exactly what’s included.
If you decide to go ahead, I’ll ask you to confirm the details before payment is made securely through the approved booking system. Once everything is confirmed, you’ll receive your booking confirmation, travel documents and details of the financial protection that applies to your holiday.
Can you help if I've already booked part of my trip?
Yes. If you’ve already booked flights, accommodation or another part of your trip, I may be able to help with everything else.
Just let me know what’s already in place and I’ll explain what I can help with before I start looking at the options.
Do you charge a planning fee?
If a planning fee applies, I’ll explain it before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect. Whether a fee is charged depends on the type and complexity of your trip.
What types of holidays can you help with?
From UK breaks and beach holidays to city breaks, cruises, touring holidays and tailor-made itineraries, I can help with most types of leisure travel.
If you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for, that’s absolutely fine. We’ll talk it through together.
Can you help with accessible travel?
Yes. I’ll take the time to understand your individual requirements and speak with the relevant suppliers about suitable options.
Please share any mobility, accessibility, assistance or medical requirements as early as possible, ideally when you first enquire. This allows suppliers to assess whether the proposed arrangements are suitable. Special assistance and accessibility requests are subject to supplier confirmation and cannot be guaranteed until they have been accepted.
Are you able to help if I don't know where I want to go yet?
Absolutely! In fact, that’s one of my favourite parts of the process. We’ll chat about what you enjoy, your budget, who you’re travelling with and the kind of experience you’re hoping for. Then I’ll suggest destinations and ideas until you have that wonderful moment of saying…
“Yes… that’s the one.”
Why should I book through an independent travel consultant?
Booking through an independent travel consultant gives you personal support from someone who takes the time to understand what matters to you.
Rather than leaving you to compare countless options alone, I can research approved suppliers, help you understand what is included, coordinate different parts of your trip and guide you through the booking process. You’ll also have a named person to contact if you have questions before you travel.
I operate as an Independent Travel Consultant with Jamie Wake Travel, using its approved booking systems, suppliers and customer-protection framework.
What happens if my plans change?
Contact me as soon as possible and I’ll check the available options with the relevant supplier.
Changes and cancellations are subject to the supplier’s terms and conditions, availability and any applicable charges. I’ll explain the information provided by the supplier before any amendment is made. Written confirmation from the lead passenger and payment of any additional amount may be required before a change can be processed.
Will you still be there once I've booked?
Yes. My support continues after your booking has been confirmed.
I’ll help with booking-related questions, documentation and agreed amendments before you travel. Should a problem arise while you are away, I’ll help direct you to the appropriate supplier or emergency support route and assist with escalation where required.
Although I cannot guarantee a particular outcome or override a supplier’s procedures, I will remain a point of contact and help you understand the next steps.
Is my holiday financially protected?
Yes. I’ll always explain what financial protection applies to your booking before you confirm anything, so you’ll know exactly what’s covered and why.
If you’d like to learn more about the different types of protection available, you can read Jamie Wake Travel’s guide, which explains everything in straightforward language.
